If those two transmissions of accelerometer sensor data are compared, an analyst can determine that they came from the same phone. In short, your cell phone transmits data as you move through the digital universe, leaving “fingerprints” that give Researchers at the University of Washington and Intel have created two new cell phone applications The device includes an accelerometer to sense the user's movement. The programs could run on phones with built-in accelerometers, such as the iPhone and even newcomer Apple have used accelerometer technology to provide some kind of motion-sensing capability in a handful of handset models. Most of these phones have been available only in South Korea or Japan, where cutting-edge cell phone features A special program, which they’d agreed to install earlier in the conference, mined accelerometer data to tell when the Some initial applications of cell-phone data have already been commercialized. For example, Sense Networks, a startup cofounded AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) and Sony Ericsson today announced the availability of the Sony Ericsson W760a Walkman™ phone — the first 3G Walkman and music experiences today and features an accelerometer that gives customers the ability to interact Engineering researchers from Duke University, developed the new technology, based on the accelerometer devices already contained in most cell phones. The accelerometers track the movements of a cell phone, but also can change the display screens from .
UbiGreen automatically logs a trip that involves walking, running or biking using accelerometer data, and uses cell phone tower signals to determine if someone is riding in a vehicle. A quick survey pops up at the end of the trip and the user chooses car Today, open-source software from researchers at Hagenberg University in Austria allows users of accelerometer-equipped cell phones, shown in this image, to control a toy car. Project leader Andreas Jakl described a James Bondian video clip showing off the His presentation, entitled "Laboratory evaluation of the accuracy of a triaxial accelerometer embedded into a cell phone platform for measuring physical activity," is based on research performed with Shelly McCrady and James Levine of the Mayo Clinic The simulator also makes use of sensors on the steering wheel and pedals. "We used sensors that took advantage of an accelerometer which is something you'd find in any cell phone nowadays," Harris said. An accelerometer can tell the orientation of the .
